To wrap up this year’s Mental Health Awareness Month campaign, Southborough Youth and Family Services is inviting the community to attend a Final Gallery on May 31st.

The event celebrates the stories of individuals and families impacted by mental health issues.

It’s part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to encourage people with problems to bring them forward and get help, rather than hiding them in shame. Fittingly, the photo and text exhibit is called “Nothing to Hide”. (For more information on the exhibit, read my previous post.)

The Gallery Finale will be held at the Southborough Community House (28 Main Street) on Thursday, May 31st from 7:00 – 8:30 pm. It will include hors d’eouvres and live music by Dave Garden from Hit the Bus. It will also feature a special guest returning to her hometown:

We welcome Dayna Altman to our Gallery Finale. Dayna is a former Southborough resident, entrepreneur, activist and author of the soon-to-be published cookbook “Bake it Til You Make it” which features the resilient stories of those who have overcome obstacles related to mental illness. Come by to meet Dayna and learn more about her book!

Throughout this month, photos and stories have been hanging in the Southborough’s Library, Town House, Arts Center/Recreation Building, Senior Center, and public schools, plus some churches and Middlesex Savings Bank. (You can still see them. Click here for specifics on locations.)

As always, SYFS encourages that if you have a mental health issue you need help with, they are there for you:
