Reminder: Scouts picking up Christmas trees on Saturday
On Saturday, January 7, the scouts will hold their annual Christmas tree collection service. For a small donation ($5 for small trees and $10 for large ones) the Boy Scouts will take away your tree and properly dispose of it. They’ll also take wreaths and garlands for $1 each. Information session to talk ‘green communities’ on January 19
In 2008 Massachusetts passed the Green Communities Act. It’s legislation that encourages municipalities to adopt clean energy practices in exchange for increased local aid. Since then, more than 80 cities and towns in the state have been designated Green Communities. Southborough’s Green Technology and Recycling Committee thinks our town should consider becoming one of them. Before the holidays, the Board of Selectmen opted to defer their decision on a new fire chief after interviewing a single finalist for the position (a second finalist had dropped out just days prior). Southborough non-profit donates $15K in honor of Myra Kraft
Southborough residents Bruce and Linda Ledoux were at Gillete Stadium in Foxborough on Sunday, but it wasn’t just to watch the Patriots game. In a field-side ceremony, the couple, who founded Guardian Angel Motorsports, donated $15,000 to the Boys and Girls Club of Boston in honor of the Myra Kraft Foundation. In the face of strong public opposition, DPW Superintendent Karen Galligan said last night she has backed off a plan to close the Swap Shop. Instead, she proposed making it even bigger.
