MWDN: Southborough ZBA ruling on Gulbankian Farms upheld

More than a year ago, the Zoning Board of Appeals voted to require the Gulbankian family to make improvements to its 40 Mt. Vickery Road property after complaints from neighbors. At the time, many of you voiced strong opinions about the process – which took more than a year – as well as the outcome. Postseason update: Boys and girls lacrosse both headed to the state finals; baseball semifinals postponed

It will be an Algonquin double-header in the lacrosse state finals later this week. Both the boys and girls lacrosse teams won their semifinal matches in East Longmeadow yesterday, setting up back-to-back championship games on Friday. The Algonquin baseball team, on the other hand, will have to wait a few more days to find out if their Cinderella season will continue after their semifinal match against Westfield was postponed due to rain. MWDN: Solar panels stolen from job site in Southborough

A while back I told you about the huge solar array Southborough developer Bill Depietri is building on Cordaville Road near the intersection with Route 9. When complete, it will be the biggest of its kind in Metrowest. But before that happens, Depietri will have to buy some new solar panels. That’s because 14 of his were stolen from the site last week. Algonquin captures four championship titles this weekend (with PHOTOS)

What a weekend for Algonquin. On Saturday the boys lacrosse and girls lacrosse teams won their respective district titles in back-to-back matches at Foley Stadium. The same day the Algonquin girls rugby team captured the Massachusetts Youth Rugby Organization State Championship title. Then on Sunday, the underdog Algonquin baseball team staged a huge upset over top-ranked St. John’s to win the Central Division 1 title.
