I saw this little guy nibbling grass in front of the library yesterday evening. My knowledge of Southborough wildlife being what it is, I have no idea what kind of creature this might be. A woodchuck maybe? My toddler insisted it was a bunny, but even I know that’s not the case. Someone care to Read the full article → from Southborough wildlife: What is it?

Further afield: Polo in Portsmouth
What’s more American than taking in a polo match on the Fourth of July? Well, I can think of a few things, but with team USA trouncing Hungary by a score of 12 to 6 on Saturday at the Newport International Polo Series, there was a bit of patriotism in the air. Games take place Read the full article → from Further afield: Polo in Portsmouth
Swan on the Wachusett Aqueduct
I captured these pictures earlier in the month on the section of the aqueduct between Parkerville and Deerfoot Roads. For a time there were two swans swimming there each morning, then just the one, and now I don’t see either when I go by. Anyone caught a glimpse of them elsewhere in town? The sounds of spring
The happy screams of children playing outside. The soft buzz of drowsy insects. The gentle rustle of new leaves. The incessant clunk, clunk, clunk of a robin throwing itself against my window. As I sit here typing, a robin is engaged in mortal combat with his reflection in my picture window. He attacks the window Read the full article → from The sounds of spring
It sure feels like spring
The kids are running around the neighborhood in short-sleeved shirts and in my yard pretty things are blooming. Read the full article → from It sure feels like spring
Sunny pictures for a dreary day
I offer you some much-needed color on this very, very gray day. These are shots I took at Chestnut Hill Farm last weekend. Remember last weekend? When it was sunny and 60 degrees? Sigh. If you have photos you’d like to see published here, email them to me or post them on flickr with the Read the full article → from Sunny pictures for a dreary day
Snow, snow, snow
We got plenty of it this weekend. Here are some shots of my yard. This is truly lazy-man’s photography. No venturing outside in the cold for me, I just opened the door and clicked. I didn’t even get any snow on my slippers. Read the full article → from Snow, snow, snow
Southborough in snow
Yesterday was such a beautiful day, what with the white snow and blue sky. I packed the toddler in the car and cruised around town taking pictures. You can see some of the shots below, but for more, visit the My Southborough flickr photostream. I’m not sure if this structure — a dam? — in Read the full article → from Southborough in snow
Some images of the storm
The stone house reflected in flood water. Water gushes over the dam on Deerfoot Road. Soccer fields on Parkerville Road under water. Read the full article → from Some images of the storm
Starting to thaw
The temperature is warming up (37 degrees at last check), and ice is starting to melt off the trees. I haven’t ventured out to survey the town, but there are branches down in my neighborhood. We’re estimated to have received several inches of rainfall which, judging by the state of my basement, sounds about right. Read the full article → from Starting to thaw
Further afield: Tower Hill Botanic Gardens
The family and I spent some time at Tower Hill Botanic Gardens in Boylston last weekend. We walked trails that wound through the woods with statues peeking out from between the trees. The dusting of snow on Sunday made it hushed and lovely. Inside the Visitor’s Center, themed Christmas trees sparkled. If you don’t have Read the full article → from Further afield: Tower Hill Botanic Gardens
