Southborough Education Foundation awards $42K in grants for new school programs

The Southborough Education Foundation has a mission to help fund innovative programs in the Southborough schools, creative and challenging programs that wouldn’t get funded through the normal budget process. SEF recently awarded $42K in grants for the upcoming school year that will fund things like pedometers, equipment for DNA manipulation experiments, marimbas, and a whole lot of iPads. Superintendent to form committee to evaluate school building needs

The question of whether Southborough needs fours schools or whether it could get away with three has been an ongoing debate for several years now. The School Committee has looked into the issue in the past, but Superintendent Charles Gobron said at a meeting earlier this month he plans to form a new committee dedicated to evaluating Southborough’s school housing needs. MWDN: Southborough’s Trottier School band pays tribute to Eric Green

Admittedly, I’m a bit delayed in sharing this story. But for anyone lucky enough to hear the Trottier Middle School Big Band play with jazz great Walter Beasley earlier this month (I was), no doubt the music is still reverberating in your head. NSMA annual awards music scholarships to Algonquin seniors

At the annual Algonquin Senior Scholarship night held in May, the Northborough-Southborough Music Association awarded twelve scholarships totaling $7,000 to graduating seniors. The scholarships recognize students for their “commitment to the music programs and desire to pursue music, making it an integral part of their future,” the organization said.
