It’s been good news on the academic front for Algonquin lately. The school’s tenth graders scored well on their MCAS tests last year, meeting the state’s recently-raised performance expectations, and 20 Algonquin students were recently honored by the National Merit program. Algonquin can now add another award to its resume. At last night’s Regional School Committee meeting, Superintendent Charles Gobron announced that the school recently had been honored by the College Board for it’s college-level AP courses. The Algonquin boys lacrosse team pulled off a huge upset against Grafton on Saturday in their quarterfinal matchup. Sixth-ranked Algonquin beat third-ranked Grafton by a score of 9 to 7. Sophomore Connor Healey scored five of Algonquin’s goals, and fellow sophomore Dave McGovern scored two. Algonquin students are sleepy, but happy
In a recent survey conducted by Algonquin’s Student Advisory Committee, 82% of Algonquin students reported they don’t get enough sleep. But junior Eddie Lowe from Northborough, one of the students who helped administer the survey, told the Regional School Committee Wednesday night that while students may be sleep deprived, they’re not unhappy.
