Route 85 bridge work near Hopkinton border to start Friday

Hydrant flushing in Southborough to begin next week

Next week is the last week of April, and that means it’s time for the annual flushing of the hydrants in Southborough. It will take nearly all week for the DPW to flush all the hydrants in town, and when they’re doing the ones in your neck of the woods, you may notice your tap water running brown. MWDN: Southborough eliminates town engineer position

Southborough Town Engineer John Woodsmall recently accepted a position as the public works director in Holden (congrats, John!). His last day on the job was Wednesday. The Board of Selectmen this week decided to replace Woodsmall not with another town engineer, but with a staff engineer. It’s a move that is expected to save the town about $20K per year. Marlboro Road family convinces selectmen tree should come down

When a Marlboro Road family petition a year ago to remove a tree at the end of their driveway because they said it was a safety hazard – and when the Board of Selectmen voted not to cut down the tree – the story elicited strong response from many of you. Despite the no-vote, the family didn’t give up their effort, and last week they convinced the Board of Selectmen to change its mind.
