With the cost of commuting on the rise, it’s good to have options. But one of those options, a bus route from Southborough to Boston, will be eliminated at the end of the month due to cuts in state subsidies.
The bus line operated by Cavalier Coach Trailways leaves Southborough center at 6:40am and stops at several Boston locations including the State House, South Station, and the Financial District. A return trip gets riders back to Southborough at 5:40 pm. The $10 round-trip fare is cheap compared to $13.50 for the commuter rail (not including $4 for parking).
Cavalier Coach used to receive $98,000 in state subsidies, but nearly all of that was cut. As a result, the bus company will eliminate the route through Southborough starting December 1.
