The MBTA is considering raising ticket prices on commuter rail lines, including the Boston-Worcester line that runs through Southborough. The proposed rate hikes would increase the one-way fare from Southborough to Boston from $6.75 to $7.75. That’s an increase of nearly 15%.
There’s also talk of eliminating weekday trains after 7:00 pm along with all weekend runs.
Last fall the MBTA raised parking fees at its commuter rail stations from $2 per day to $4.
You can read more about the proposed changes in this announcement by the MBTA. If you want to voice your opinion, a public hearing is scheduled on Thursday, August 18, 6:00 to 8:00 pm, at the Town Hall in Framingham (map).
And while we’re talking about the commuter rail, here’s a video taken at the Southborough commuter rail station that was posted on YouTube recently. Just goes to show you can find just about anything on YouTube.
