Southborough residents Debbie Depp-Wilson and Lisa Braccio both have been honored for their tireless work in support of troops overseas, and their work continues next month. The two have organized another holiday troop drive to be held at the Senior Center the weekend of October 16 and 17.
The donations collected during the drive will be sent to troops stationed in Afghanistan. “Conditions in Afghanistan are really tough and they need lots of support to improve living conditions and boost morale,” Depp-Wilson wrote in a email. Depp-Wilson’s daughter Courtney was deployed to Afghanistan last March.
Braccio held her first troop drive in 2005. Since then more than 110,000 pounds and 5,000 boxes have been shipped overseas from Southborough. And if the letters of thanks sent by the troops are any indication, the packages are a much-welcomed taste of home.
Braccio and Depp-Wilson say no donation is too small. Check out this flyer for a list of requested items. You can also make monetary donations to help with the cost of shipping. Residents are also asked to make cards for the troops to thank them for their service.
You can drop off items at the Senior Center (9 Cordaville Road) on Saturday, October 16 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, and Sunday, October 17 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
