I’m doing my annual roundup of holiday collection drives in town.
SYFS Holiday Giving Program – by Friday
The annual program supports Southborough families in need over the holidays. Between a late Thanksgiving and all of the snow, it looks like they’re a little behind in receiving gift card donations. They asked me to remind everyone that this year’s deadline is this Friday, December 6th.
If you can’t get them a gift card in time, an online donation is another option. Click here for a reminder of all the options and details.
Project Just Because (through the Southborough Fire Department or Southborough Girl Scouts)
The Southborough Fire Department is again collecting toys for this Hopkinton based charity.
Project Just Because distributes the toys to families in Worcester County. Toys will be individually selected for a child and then delivered to the home in time for Christmas.
The charity’s requested items include new and unwrapped:
- Board Games for ages 10+,
- Footballs / Soccer Balls / Basketballs and other sporting equipment
- Books
- Small Toys
- Arts & Crafts sets
- Clothing Gift Cards for teens
Please try to get new, unwrapped donations in by Friday, December 13. The Fire Department is always open, so drop off any time at the dispatch area of the lobby. The new location is at 32 Cordaville Road.
Southborough Girl Scouts is again collecting donated gifts for the cause at their annual holiday Sing-a-long for Girl Scouts and families. That takes place at the Community House this Friday night. (You can refer to the same wish list above.)

Mitten, hat & glove drive (via Finn School)
It also seems appropriate to share a reminder here about Finn’s collection drive to keep Worcester students warm this winter. The deadline for dropping snow mittens, hats and gloves off at the school is December 10th. Click here for a reminder of those details.
Pretzels for Presents
Yesterday, I posted about the 5th annual fundraiser. It’s not actually a collection drive. But, they will be using all proceeds from the sale of seasonal treats to donate presents to Shriner’s Hospital patients. For a reminder of those details, click here.
If you have a holiday charity/collection drive in town not listed above, please post a comment to let readers know and/or email mysouthborough@gmail.com.
Updated (12/4/19 10:19 am): I inserted a reminder of the Finn School mitten drive.
