Today was the last day of school in Southborough, and judging by the crowd of kids sitting outside on the grass in front of the Southborough House of Pizza today, your youngsters are looking forward to a long summer off. But how about you parents?
If you’re in need of activities for the kids this summer, here are some suggestions.
Summer camp
There are a number of summer camps offered in Southborough this year to suit a range of ages.
- Sizzling Summer Scene — For kids entering grades 6-9; Sponsored by Southborough Youth and Family Services
- Kids Kamp — For kids age 2.9 to those entering 1st grade; Sponsored by the Southborough Recreation Department
- Junior Zone — For kids entering grades 2-4; Sponsored by the Southborough Recreation Department
- Tween Adventure — For kids entering grades 5 and 6; Sponsored by the Southborough Recreation Department (Update: I just learned the tween camp was canceled due to low enrollment.)
Sports programs
If your kids are into sports, there are local programs for volleyball, basketball, golf, horseback riding, and more. See this post for more information.
Events at the Southborough Library
The Southborough Library’s popular Pajama Story Time series kicks off on Wednesday, July 7. That along with other events like magic shows, a bubble show, a juggling show, and drop-in craft days are sure to engage the kids this summer. Take a look through the library’s calendar of events for more information.
Museums and attractions
Museums are a good bet for rainy days and sunny days alike. The Southborough Library offers discounted passes to a number of area museums including Boston Children’s Museum, Museum of Science, Higgins Armory Museum, and more. They also have discounted passes to attractions kids love like Davis Farmland, the EcoTarium, Roger Williams Zoo, and the New England Aquarium. For a complete list, and to reserve passes online, visit the Southborough Library website.
